Details

Our monthly meeting will be held at 7:30 on October 6 at the James Lorah Auditorium in Doylestown. Our speaker tonight will be Betz Green and her husband Jim, they will be talking about Framing Basics.

So you have big show coming up! How will you show your work to its best advantage. An important part of that decision is the frame that you choose, and how it is presented and finished. Betz and Jim will be discussing various ideas on how to frame and finish two dimensional work for shows and for any other situation. Using some of their own work as examples, the various methods of framing different media will be explored.

This will include an explanation of the process and steps involved in an archival mounting of artwork. A framed piece consists of more than just the frame and there will also be a discussion of the choice of hardware and how to finish of the backs of the frame. Consideration of all of these aspects of the framing of your artwork will help create your show winner, an attractive product for sale or a family heirloom.

Over her years as an artist Betz Green has created portfolios of work in various mediums including oil, silverpoint, watercolor, charcoal and collage mixed media. She attended Tyler School of Art and has won top awards in shows such as Phillips' Mill, Art of the State, Philadelphia Sketch Club, Audubon Artists Inc., and Philadelphia Water Color Society. Her work can be found in many private collections, plus gallery and museum shows. She also enjoys instructing adult classes in all media drawing.
