Oil painting portrait by Barbara Lewis

Our Speaker this month is Barbara Lewis. Barbara is a talented oil painter who paints portraits, still lifes, animals and landscapes in an elegantly traditional style. Her extensive training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and at Studio Icnamminati, established by Nelson Shanks, has added to the depth and richness of her work. Her paintings have been exhibited in the James A. Michener Art Museum, the Pennsylvania State Museum, Woodmere Museum, Rowen University, the Princeton Theological Seminary, the National Arts Club and the Salmagundi Club. Barbara is particularly well-known for her portrait work, especially those of judges. The James A. Michener Art Museum’s recent “A Judicial Legacy: Portraits from the Bucks County Courts Collection featured 10 of her portraits. Barbara teaches art in her Doylestown studio. She looks forward to sharing with us the classic techniques behind her most successful paintings. Location: James-Lorah Memorial Home 132 N Main St. Doylestown, PA 18901 Organizer: Doylestown Art League
