We meet at the James Lorah Auditorium on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30pm. The meetings are free and open to all.

Our Speaker tonight is local artist Peter Stolvoort who will demonstrate his creative work process.

Peter is a graduate of the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia where he studied painting, printmaking and design. He also studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. After three decades as an award winning designer of commercial and media products, he returned to painting full time.

Peter’s works are housed in many private collections throughout North America and Europe.

I gaze out at endless waterways; a soft breeze tickles my face. Bright sunlight reflected on distant waves makes the water simmer and dance with light and shadow. Echoes of marsh birds and the rustle of marsh grass break the silence. These are some of the inspirations for my paintings.

His works begin with a concept layout in an underpainting. All colors are premixed to establish a cohesive palette. Copious amounts of fluid acrylic paint are applied with a custom-cut brush to create layers of dynamic lines and color. This is accented with brush-flung strands, added materials and pallet knife cuts and grooves to create vibrant currents of color, light and reflection.

Peter lives and works in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
