This is a drawing class for beginner and intermediate students. It is an essential foundation class, that will take into account the abilities of the beginner and enhance the skills of those with more experience. Fundamental drawing concepts will be woven into projects that will be student driven. This may include portraits, perspective, and composition, as well as varying the materials used as the class decides on the kinds of projects that would most benefit their interests. Come prepared to draw the first day!

Wayne is an Artist / Art instructor and has been showing work in professional exhibitions and Instructing students of all skill levels for the past 24 years. He has studied at PAFA and has a BFA from Tyler School of Art.

Sally Yates is a graduate of Moore College Of Art and a signature member of Philadelphia Water Color Society as well as having memberships with various local art centers. She has been painting and teaching for most of her life and has won numerous awards along the way. Learn in a relaxing atmosphere how to enhance your paintings and learn new techniques etc. with Sally’s assistance.

My class focuses on the individual's personal development and goals. Intermediate and advanced students working in oil or acrylic are best suited for my class. Students will work from photo references via ipads, etc. Subject matter may include portrait, figure or landscape and we will have demonstrations and discussions on these themes.

I have been an artist for many decades. Although I value my years of classical study, my artistic development has become increasingly more experimental and spontaneous. Lately, I am choosing palettes of color harmonies in tune with all of my senses, not just to describe what I see, but to engage as to what I feel.

Oils serve me best. I pay little attention to “art rules.” If someone thinks I use too much red, I may have considered using more of it.

I am a signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, an elected artist member of the Salmagundi Club, NYC and a member of the American Impressionist Society.

George Thompson is a nationally recognized, award-winning fine artist known for his landscape, portrait and figure painting in a contemporary, traditional style. George teaches painting and drawing and runs workshops and classes at his studio and other venues throughout Bucks County, PA.

This workshop is for artists who have felt overwhelming challenges when painting the portrait, or artists that want to take their portraits to the next level. The grid has been a well-kept secret used by masters from the Renaissance to modern painters. It is uniquely valuable for capturing the likeness and solving other drawing problems that arise with painting portraits. We will work on an accurate block-in from a photograph, skin color choices, value, light and anatomy. Once you try this method, the grid will become one of your favorite painting techniques. This workshop is for advanced beginners and up… with knowledge of painting in oils or acrylics.

Artists canvases should be prepared before-hand. Please a bring 16 x 20 white/not toned canvas, gridded into 1 inch squares with a pencil. There will be a $5 fee for the supplied gridded photograph of the image that we will be using for this workshop.

We will break for lunch. So come prepared and bring something to eat.
